August SAT 💔💔

Main Post: August SAT 💔💔

Top Comment: $300 down the drain

Well damn pretty devastated with the score on my sat.

Main Post:

Well I got 970. Which I know is below average. I don't know what I was expecting. With basically no practice on the math section and absolutely no practice on the English section. Now I don't know what to do now. I'm in 12th grade rn. My gpa is 2.5. I was honestly expecting atleast 1000. Well now I need some advice. Any advice will be appreciated and I can't really wait and go to school or college and retake the test. Because I will be forced to the military and that is not really preferable. I guess I can go to the military and serve my 1 year but that is kinda risky with how brutal the military is. Thank you to teachers and students who is going to give me advice.

Top Comment: You’re talking to a teacher who also did terribly on the SATs. You have options! Take it again (you’ll do better, it’s statistically proven) or go to community college! I went to community college, got my associates, then transferred to a 4 year school.

What was your ACT/SAT score?

Main Post:

Edit: and what are you doing/ did you do at college if you'd like to share.

Top Comment: 27 years ago for me, too the SAT and scored a 960 out of possible 1600. No desire to retake. Started my college career as a music major and graduated many years later with an electrical engineering technology degree in 2008. Currently a senior engineer with the same company that hired me right out of college. GPA in high school as around a 2.5. GPA in college across all years was a 3.3.

How many times is too many times for taking the SAT? + I’m going crazy

Main Post:

I’ve taken three tests so far and my scores were 1090 (first try), 1210 (second try a month later), and third try (another month later and waiting for my scores). My estimate for that test is around 1300.

I need AT LEAST 1400 for the colleges I’m applying too but I feel like I’m gonna need a couple more tries. I’m already taking it again in August, and I’m debating signing up for October. I know colleges only see your highest score, but is taking the test 5 times a bit over kill?

On another note, I’m starting to get so sick of this test. I’m feel so dumb because I had to take the test so many times and still didn’t get great scores. I know I’m not “dumb” because I’m in honors classes with a 4.0 uw gpa, but I’m honestly so done with this test. Should I continue on and try to get the score I want, or succumb to my fate and go to community college 😭

EDIT: thank you for everyone who has been so insanely helpful and for motivating me to keep trying! If I can’t crack the SAT in august, I’m going to attempt the ACT in September. Thank you again <3

Top Comment: Worse case a lot of schools are test optional, but with the amount of time you have till your next test you could really improve a lot.

Mandatory ACT/SAT Test Scores for FL schools & Looking at FGCU and FIU

Main Post:

What do you think the minimum acceptable scores are for admission to these schools? GPA is 3.2uw / 3.7w so not sure if it’s reasonable to even apply (instate)

Top Comment: 1070 SAT for each, it’s at the 25th percentile for both universities and also the score that FGCU recommends applicants to be at for admission
